Weilun is Africa's No 2 - NM Erick Takawira 

Weilun Yan proudly secured the silver medal at the Under 17 2025 African Schools Individual Chess Championship, finishing with an impressive score of 7.5 out of 9 points. 

Despite facing challenges in the 5th and 6th rounds, Weilun demonstrated resilience and determination by winning his final three games in a row, ultimately earning a well-deserved second place.

He was deeply grateful to his family and everyone who supported him to make this incredible opportunity possible.

With this achievement, Weilun earned a conditional Candidate Master title and will be confirmed when he reaches 2000 rating.
